Arthroscopic resection of an elbow plica
The synovial plica is a fold in the membrane lining the elbow joint. When it becomes thickened or inflamed, it can cause pain, catching or locking during movement.
Treatment involves removing this plica arthroscopically, via small incisions through which a camera and miniature instruments are inserted. This procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis, with the aim of eliminating mechanical impingement, relieving pain and restoring normal mobility whilst preserving the joint structures.
